4 Excuses That Prevent You From Reaching Your Goals

4 excuses that prevent you from reaching your goals

“I’ll do it tomorrow”, “I do not have time”, “I am really not good at it”… You have probably said these excuses to yourself at some point. The problem is that they form a wall between you and your goals.

Our goals and dreams are often the engine of our lives. Without goals, life becomes stagnant. However, due to fear, insecurity, low self-esteem or ignorance, we sometimes run away from dreams, desires and planning.

It is on these occasions that excuses begin to emerge. They differ from person to person but share a common theme. Maybe you have not thought or said exactly what is conveyed below, but you have probably had similar thoughts.

It does not matter what goals you have, how difficult they are to achieve or what you have to do to make them a reality; what is vital is that you stop making excuses and instead try to achieve them.

Common excuses that keep you from moving forward

1 – “I do not have time.”

The most famous commentary of the 21st century. We live constantly at 100 km / h and we do not even have time for what is important. Our days consist of running back and forth, and we do not even enjoy it. Our pace in life is incredibly high, but it is also true that when there is a will, there is a way. Do not hide behind the excuse that you do not have enough free time to do things.

Getting things done is a matter of priority. If you are really passionate about something, you will find time for it. You can get up earlier, travel more efficiently, stop working overtime, etc. Find out how you manage your time before you start using it as an excuse.

2 – “I have to save money.”

If you have reached your financial goals to achieve your dream, why not drive on? It is of course true that crises, monetary fluctuations and stocks are unpredictable, but you can not hold on to all your money “just in case”.

Try to save so you have a safe buffer and use the rest to make your dreams come true. There is no way to know where you will be tomorrow or what will happen to the money. It is best that you use them in a good way.

Overprotection

3 – “What will they think of me?”

Other people’s opinions are always a concern. What will my parents think if I end my career because I do not think it’s funny? What will my in-laws say if I quit my job to stay home with my children? How will my friends react if I tell them that I have decided to start my own?

Honestly, other people’s opinions are not something you need to adapt to. They will always have a reason to criticize you, no matter what you do. If other people’s opinions about your actions really matter so much to you, talk to them before making a decision. However, you should always have the last word.

4 – “I’m not capable enough.”

Lack of self-confidence is a serious problem that prevents us from realizing our dreams. If we do not trust our abilities, it is impossible to win and achieve the goals we have in mind. No one is born a genius. Maybe you need more experience, knowledge or practice, but never say that you are “useless”, not even when things go wrong.

Also, if you have not even tried, how can you know you can not? You will undoubtedly stumble upon several bumps in the road. Your ability lies in getting up and moving on.

Push your excuses aside and be brave to reach your goals. Do not say “This is not the best time”, “It’s too much”, “It has already been invented” or “I am afraid of failure”. Do everything you can to succeed. If the result is not what you thought, you at least have the experience to add to your CV.
