The Green Mile: A truly outstanding film

Some movies do more than just entertain, they touch your soul. The Green Mile (1999) is without a doubt a truly outstanding film.

It is not a simple film that can be summed up in a few words. We have therefore chosen to dedicate this article to this fantastic creation of the “seventh art”.

Room from the movie.

A special type of film

Why is this such a special film? First, The Green Mile is one of those movies that is hard to categorize. Some critics say it is a drama. Others say it’s a mystery.

Some even say that it fits into the science fiction genre.

All these categorizations are correct, but at the same time they are wrong. The green mile has enough elements to be able to belong to any of these categories, without belonging to any of them.

It is actually a film adaptation of Stephen King’s book of the same name.

This film is not only difficult to classify; it also has a special action and a special context. The main character is a prison guard named Paul Edgecomb.

His job is to supervise the inmates of Cold Mountain Penitentiary in 1930s Louisiana.

Edgecomb and his prison guards begin to experience strange things after an unusual prisoner named John Coffey arrives. Coffey is a tall black man who is very strong and extremely sensitive.

Coffey shows how special he is thanks to his amazing powers.

The Emotions are the real stars of The Green Mile – a truly outstanding film

On paper, Paul and John are the main characters. With that said, there is one element that is present throughout the film and that is the emotions.

We say this because one of the film’s successes is the many different emotions it gives the viewer. It can be fun, very dramatic and even scary.

John Coffey is the mediator of this emotional force. Although he is sentenced to death for murdering two little girls, this mysterious prisoner is as sensitive, naive and optimistic as a child.

There is a clear contrast between how he behaves and how we experience him based on his size.

John has special powers: he can remove diseases. As the story goes on, he uses this power on more and more people.

His extreme sensitivity gives him an ability to be empathetic with anyone in pain, and he uses his power to relieve their pain.

John Coffey’s kindness

Are some people completely good while others are completely evil? Personally, I do not think so.

I think there are actions, behaviors and attitudes that we can describe using these terms, but they tend to be simplistic images of reality.

However, John is definitely one of those people who can really be seen as good. The power we mentioned above makes him someone who tries to do good almost as if it were an instinct.

His character is a representation of an action based on a well-developed moral compass. He uses his powers for all the people who need them, whether they have been kind to him or not.

John Coffey is crying.

A sad lesson from a really outstanding film

In a hate-filled environment marked by weapons, death and abuse of power, John Coffey is almost like a miracle. He is a powerful force of nature.

The root of this power is the love that he expresses in many different ways and that he has for the little things in life.

If this supernatural man had existed in our lives, we would probably have watched over him so that he could perform his good deeds and gild everyone’s lives.

But that’s not what’s going on in the movie. A course of events and the fact that John is a black man in the United States means that he does not have a happy ending.

In the end, he ends up in the electric chair. The strange thing about this is that he seems to want this to be his end.

In an insensitive world, his hypersensitivity makes him feel much more pain than he can handle. But the real world, the world we live in, is not so different from the one in the green mile.

I have a feeling that if John had lived in our world, he would have wanted the same unfortunate end.

In life, there are people who seem to perform good deeds wherever they go, even if they do not know why. But we do not always give these people the treatment they deserve.

The Green Mile is an incredible film that we can learn a lot from.
