A Tribute To Grandparents
Today’s grandparents are amazing, important and irreplaceable in the lives of the youngest members of the family, a family they have created through much effort. They are the index finger that points to the horizon so that their survivors do not miss the little things in life.
For many, becoming grandparents is an important stage in life, and their grandchildren are very important to them. It involves a new relationship that boosts their physical, psychological and social well-being. In a way, this new life also involves a form of rebirth.
Grandparents offer their grandchildren an unlimited amount of long-lasting gifts: love, values, experiences, secrets, friendships, companionship and various forms of care and entertainment. It is almost as if they become immortal through their grandchildren, because what they pass on to them will remain in the world.
Today’s grandparents
We live in a time where the role of grandparents has grown and has more influence when it comes to raising the newest members of the family. The increased life expectancy and the progress society has made has led to a change in their traditional role.
Society is different nowadays. There is no longer a type of family. There are many and you can find young grandparents who are full of energy, like sports, who play in the park and who love to shop and go on excursions. New grandparents come to their grandchildren with energy and with a lot to contribute.
They are worthy of praise because there are many things in the modern world that fascinate children; they also admire their grandparents who have the latest generation of phones and large televisions where they can fall asleep after eating. They are heroes who have adapted to the modern world without having grown up with it.
A mutually beneficial relationship
Both grandparents and grandchildren benefit from spending time together. The children feel inspired by the grandparents, who in turn feel just as special in the vicinity of these little people who have so much energy and such an eagerness to discover the world.
The grandparents are a fundamental part of helping the little ones grow up. They can develop secure emotional bonds with them without having to assume the responsibilities of the parents. They do not have to set boundaries, they just have to ensure that they are followed in certain cases. They can only enjoy the here and now without constantly questioning their actions in the parenting process.
For the grandchildren, the grandparents are the companions who help them discover things every day. But they are above all the ones who make the magic happen. For example, they can prepare delicious food, take them to new places, teach all animal sounds (even those that do not exist), help with abrasions, and offer chocolate. But what makes them most special is the quality time they can share.
They know in some mysterious way how to solve everything, how to cut the children’s nails without it hurting and how to cook without getting us all over the house. They make all the ghosts disappear and the children can sleep safely.
True and unconditional love
To all the great grandparents: I want to tell you that I see you when you walk by with your grandchildren, when you take care of them, when you cook while you also take a photo of the little ones to send to their parents so that they can feel calm.
And if you stop for a moment and think about it, there is probably no unconditional love that is as good as the one that the grandparents have because they are so incredibly happy. Happy to know that the love they had for their parents now is also something given to their grandchildren.
To all the grandparents out there, continue to be as amazing as you are, because the trail you leave with your grandchildren is unparalleled. Every day is full of important memories stored in your grandchildren’s memories, and later in life these memories will become a refuge for them when they need warmth. Because there is nothing like the warmth of a grandparent.
