5 steps to train your brain

Lately, I have stopped to think about how I can improve my intellectual abilities and become more flexible as well as faster when it comes to reasoning. Sometimes I ask myself the big question: do I use my brain properly, or can it be true that I am slow when it comes to reasoning? Wouldn’t you also like to know how to train your brain?

After much research, I have realized that even the most prominent geniuses are sometimes in the same situation. Today I want to share the example of Steve Jobs – the creative genius who also felt the need to further train and use his brain.

In one of his interviews, he listed the effects of meditation for his cinema Walter Isaacson as follows:

“If you sit down and just observe yourself, you will see how restless your mind is. When you try to calm it down, the situation only gets worse and worse. If you can do that after a while, other, nicer things will open up for you. Your intuition will become sharper, your vision clearer and you will become aware of yourself in time, in that very moment, here and now. Your thoughts will slow down, your consciousness will expand and you will see much more than you saw before. ”

Of all the types of meditation we can use, mindfulness meditation is the one chosen and used by Jobs. In one of his last interviews, Jobs told Isaacson that he practiced this meditation for several years with the following five steps:

Train your brain

Keep your eyes closed and listen to the thoughts in your mind. These are part of what we call “apathy”. Do not worry if these do not allow you to concentrate completely. For now, just focus on observing how your mind goes from one thought to another, and repeat this exercise five minutes a day for a week.

Concentrate on what is called the “ox mind” – the part of your mind that thinks calmly and slowly – by focusing on the world around it. It only intends to observe, listen and feel, without judging or understanding the meaning. The bullshit allows you to be quiet, patient and thorough at work.

Starting to become aware of your “bullshit” will allow you to ask yourself to go beyond the “apse” stage. As an example, we can take a look at Jeffrey James, who used the following technique to get help with this exercise: he imagined an ox walking calmly in one direction while the monkey fell asleep.

Do not worry about the monkey from time to time starting to “mess “. It is a normal part of the process and will gradually disappear, allowing you to focus more on the “ox mind” stage.

As you begin to calm down your monkey mind , focus on your ox mind by helping your breathing slow down. Your senses will be sharpened and you will connect with your surroundings and your feelings better. If you open your eyes, you will notice that the world around you seems different and possibly strange. You begin to live in the “here and now”, with a form that is true to your essence.

Developing a meditation technique to train your brain takes time, but harden out and you will gradually increase your sense of well-being and eventually not even notice that time is flowing when you meditate. And remember, mindfulness meditation allows you to:

  • Relieve stress. It will prevent you from perceiving major difficulties as major problems.
  • Overcome and avoid insomnia.
  • Train your brain to have the ability to think and reflect more clearly and appreciate what is happening in your life to a greater extent.
