Get Out Of Your Head And Live In The Present

Get out of your head and live in the now

Get out of your head and live in the now! Do you live in your mind or in the present? Although this question may seem strange, in fact it often happens that we miss what is most important, here and now, due to the fact that we think about the past and the future. Most of us live on autopilot, between yesterday and tomorrow, between what awaits and what will happen in the future.

Living in our mind captivated by anxiety and expectations creates discomfort because we are dependent on our thoughts. That is why we feel alone when we face the reality of our existence. The problem is that there are no magic formulas that allow us to solve everything quickly. The secret to really starting to live lies in these simple words: get out of your head and live in the now.

To understand this deep message, we can see our mind as one of our comfort zones. In other words, our mind is the stream of thoughts that we collect and that prevent us from becoming aware of the present moment. It is the mental noise that distracts us from every moment and forces us to live in the past or in the future.

One of the most recommended methods that can help us get out of our mental prison is mindfulness.  This exercise is not about sitting down, being still and emptying your mind. You have probably already tried something similar before and thought it was unprofitable.

People who have not mastered mindfulness may feel that their thoughts are accumulating. These thoughts can be confusing and almost scream, “Your madman! You can not stop thinking! “This is what usually happens when you start practicing mindfulness. The truth is that we are not used to letting our thoughts flow naturally through our mind without judging or storing them.

Although it can be a bit complicated to achieve, we will finally, once we do, understand what “getting out of your head” means. When you stop judging your thoughts and just observe them as if you were watching a movie, they cease to affect your reality, and you get a clearer perspective. You begin to see the truth.

When was the last time you took a moment to just enjoy inhaling some fresh air? Do you remember being grateful for the warm water when you shower every morning? Probably not, because your mind is always thinking “I’m late for work”, “I have to pick up the kids” or “What do I need to buy?”

Your head is full of thoughts about the past and the future. But we ignore the present moment in a rather rude way. You create stress with your thoughts. Your mental activity creates many of the problems you have. None of that is real. You will live in your imagination until you start focusing on the present.

So you need to get out of your mind quickly! Give yourself a moment to spend clearing out the thoughts that do not allow you to enjoy your life and make you feel unpleasant feelings.

It is like when we feel fear or anxiety for no reason. Is there really something we have to run or escape from? No! But in our minds we cut a movie together and we believe in it so much that we think it is real.

Therefore, get out of your head and dare to live in the present. Wait for things to actually happen before trying to get past them. Stop thinking about the past. Do not make the past your present as it is not a part of this moment. Be grateful for every day.

Be aware of every moment of your existence, even as you work. Are you aware of how your fingers touch the keyboard? How do you stand on your feet and how do they help you move from one place to another? Get in touch with your life, get in touch with yourself and get out of your head once and for all.
