Laughter Is The Language Of The Soul

Laughter is the language of the soul

When you smile you show me your deepest thoughts, you let me see you, you let me explore all your secrets and I feel close to you. Sometimes you infect me with happiness just by giving your lips the hint of a curve, for your eyes are already smiling at me before your mouth does.

Through all your smiles, you show me the world just as you see it. You teach me that there is a way to see the world with an open soul and a willingness to learn. If you do not smile, I will fight with everything I have within reach to make your lips fly to the sky.

A child laughs around 400 times in a day, but an adult only 15. This may be due to the fact that we lose our innocence or our sense of humor, but the reality in many cases is that we need to regain the happiness of laughing, like children who have fun, and teach us to see life in a much easier and more fun way.

One of the reasons for our lack of humor in certain situations is the rigidity with which we act, our lack of naturalness, our fear of breaking the rules and not respecting norms. But who wrote these rules? What happens if we do not respect them? Nothing will happen; we will simply be ourselves.

It is enough to just get on a bus in the morning and see the faces of the people sitting there to realize that no one is smiling, that everyone has lost their good mood. But have you stopped and thought about what would happen if you smiled a little more? You lose nothing; Your problems will remain, but if you show a hint of a smile, you will surely see things differently.

When we are children we are not ashamed nor do we think of our shortcomings and virtues; we are simply happy and we smile at life. Therefore, laughter is also a matter of self-esteem. If we love ourselves, we will be able to accept our shortcomings and our virtues, and push aside the weight we attach to what other people think.

But it is not only if you have good self-esteem that you will be able to laugh at yourself. If you laugh at yourself, you will also strengthen your self-esteem, and therefore it is something that works both ways.

Another way to learn to laugh at ourselves again is to overcome our shyness and our shame because of the opinions of others, because that sensitivity to negative criticism is what paralyzes and does not allow us to enjoy laughter. Learn to be spontaneous, say what goes through your head, tell jokes, smile, do not be afraid – nothing will hit you and you will have fun.

Laughter therapy is no longer just a way to fight stress or have fun; it has become a method with real medical and psychological uses.

The psychologist José Elías, a pioneer in laughter therapy in Spain, highlighted that laughter strengthens the heart, because when we laugh we move 420 muscles in the body, including the heart muscle. Furthermore, laughter lowers blood pressure because it increases the diameter of our blood vessels and assists in breathing as ventilation is increased to the maximum level.

Therefore, laughter improves our quality of life and our health, and it has positive effects both physiologically and psychologically. Learning to laugh more often helps us to look at life from a different angle – a much more pleasant and healthy one. So smile, because it is the language of the soul and the way you will be able to go out and fly.
