The Curious Puppy: A Beautiful Story About Self-reflection

The curious puppy: a beautiful story of self-reflection

The story of the curious puppy is about self-reflection. It starts in a place far away from here. There, in the deep forests, was an abandoned house. A house that no one seemed to have lived in for many years. The puppy noticed the house but was afraid to go inside. He stayed away because he was afraid he would come across something he would not like.

However, the puppy was curious. The next day he returned and went a little closer to the house, but did not dare to enter. The sun started to get stronger and the temperature became difficult to handle. The puppy needed a place to hide from the hot rays.

After hesitating for a while, he decided to go into the house. It was completely abandoned. “Hello!” said the dog, but no one answered him. In one corner was a staircase, and he walked closer. There did not seem to be anyone there and he began to walk carefully up the stairs. That was when the story took an interesting turn…

As the puppy went up the stairs, he came across a large room. To his surprise, he found hundreds of puppies that were just like him. It seemed as if they were waiting for him.

The curious puppy was so happy. The other dogs seemed friendly. It gave him the confidence to raise his paw and greet them. Everyone greeted right back. The little dog barked happily and the others did the same. “What a nice place!” thought the little dog. “I’ll be back as often as I can!”

The days passed and this time another dog arrived. This dog was different; he was much more scared than the others. He went through the same process as the first. When he saw the house, he did not want to go near it. He was too scared and stayed away.

The other dog saw that there were many nice places in the area. He decided to go back, but always kept his distance from the abandoned house. One day, however, he had no choice, just like the first dog, he entered the house.

When he had entered, he looked suspiciously at everything. In the background he could see some stairs, but he did not go near them. Time passed and he began to freeze. He thought he might be able to warm up if he went up to the second floor, so he took courage and went up.

The dog got up and bumped into the same hall. He sniffed around and it seemed like no one lived there. But he also found hundreds of dogs just like him. He immediately got ready to attack, and the other dogs did the same. He barked aggressively and so did the other dogs! The dog ran away as fast as he could, and told himself he would never return. “What a horrible place!” he thought.

He ran away so fast that he did not see the old sign on the floor that said “Mirror House”. Neither the first nor the second puppy had realized that they had seen their own reflection in the many mirrors in the room.

The story of the curious dog shows us a truth that we often do not think about. What we see in others is basically a reflection of ourselves. We get what we give. He who is kind to the world may receive kindness in exchange. And he who is aggressive will himself be met with aggression. History tries to teach us the importance of self-reflection.

People are naturally social. We are born to live in groups; it is part of our biological and cultural structure. We can be selfish, but the group is always there in our lives. The rest of the group is an important point of reference; it behaves like a “mirror house”. What we see in others has a lot to do with what we see in ourselves – just like in the story of the curious puppy.

The curious puppy and its history.

Since we have difficulties with the world, we should question ourselves and not the world. Is it the world that is wrong? Or are we the ones who do not relate to it in a good way? The story of the curious puppy makes us wonder if it’s time for some positive self-reflection.
